The Cotswolds never sits still for long. Beneath the honey-coloured stone and rolling green hills, a steady stream of new restaurants, renovated hotels and first-time festivals are reshaping what there is to do across the region. Here is a guide to the openings and launches that are actually confirmed for 2026 — alongside a handful of recent arrivals from late 2025 that still feel fresh.
The Norman Knight, Whichford — Open Now
The Potted Goose Group — the team behind The Kingham Plough, The Crown Inn at Enstone and The Hare in Milton-under-Wychwood — opened The Norman Knight in January 2026 in the village of Whichford, near Shipston-on-Stour. Set in a restored 17th-century building overlooking the village green, the pub seats around 80 guests across its main dining room and two private dining spaces. There are also nine bedrooms, four in the main building and five in newly built garden cabins, starting from around £225 per night including breakfast.
The menu focuses on seasonal British cooking using produce sourced from local farms and estates. The pub is open daily from 8am to midnight, making it a genuine all-day destination — whether you are after morning coffee, a long lunch or an evening meal by the fire.

The Wild Duck Inn, Ewen — Opening 2 March 2026
Sam and Georgie Pearman, former founders of The Lucky Onion group and now operating as Country Creatures, are behind the revival of The Wild Duck Inn in the hamlet of Ewen, south of Cirencester. The 16th-century, Grade II-listed coaching inn has undergone a thorough renovation, transforming what had become a rather tired building into a 19-bedroom pub with rooms.
The 110-seat restaurant will serve a seasonal British menu, and many of the bedrooms have private terraces. There will also be a bar, garden and two treatment rooms. Table bookings opened in January 2026, so it is worth reserving ahead if you plan to visit in the early weeks.

The Tunnel House Inn, Coates — Spring 2026
Few pub closures in the Cotswolds caused as much dismay as the Tunnel House Inn, which shut its doors in 2020. Located beside the dormant Thames and Severn Canal, with views of the majestic Coates portal of the Sapperton Tunnel, it occupied one of the most atmospheric settings of any pub in Britain.
The team behind the Bell Inn at Sapperton have taken over the site, working alongside the Bathurst Estate to restore it. Building work began in late 2025, with a spring 2026 reopening planned. At the time of writing, an exact opening date has not been confirmed, so it is worth checking the pub's website or social media before making a special trip.

Hotel Indigo Gloucester — The Forum — Spring 2026
Gloucester is getting its first major boutique hotel in years. Hotel Indigo at The Forum is part of a £107 million regeneration of the Kings Quarter in the city centre. The 129-bedroom hotel features Crimson Spire, a rooftop cocktail bar with panoramic views of Gloucester Cathedral, alongside a day bistro called West Window and a cafe named Terraé.
While Gloucester sits on the western edge of the Cotswolds rather than deep in its heartland, the city is a natural gateway to the region and the hotel makes a practical base for exploring. Bookings have been taken for dates from late March 2026 onwards.

Kelmscott Manor — 2026 Season Opens 2 April
Kelmscott Manor, the Cotswold retreat of William Morris, reopens for its 2026 visiting season on 2 April. The manor underwent a major £6 million restoration funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, completed in 2022, which saw the house's original decorative schemes painstakingly restored alongside structural repairs.
If you have not visited since the renovation, the difference is striking. Morris's furniture, textiles and personal belongings are displayed throughout the house, and the gardens remain a peaceful haven. The manor is open Thursday to Saturday during season; tickets go on sale from mid-February 2026.

Pit Kitchen at Todenham Manor Farm — Expanded for 2026
Pit Kitchen moved from near Chipping Norton to Todenham Manor Farm near Moreton-in-Marsh in 2024, and has been steadily building a following for its bold, open-fire cooking with Middle Eastern-inspired flavours. For 2026, the team has invested in a new all-weather dining space, meaning you can enjoy the live-fire experience year-round rather than only in fair weather.
Run by brothers Adam and James Thomas, who swapped Dalston's food scene for the Cotswold countryside, with friend and consultant chef George Uren, Pit Kitchen brings a welcome dose of creative energy to the area. The atmosphere is relaxed and sociable, and the cooking is genuinely good — expect rotisserie meats, flame-grilled flatbreads and seasonal sides using local produce.

Blenheim Palace Festival — 27 June to 4 July 2026
The biggest new event in the region this year is the inaugural Blenheim Palace Festival, a five-day celebration of live music staged in the Great Court of one of England's most spectacular stately homes. Headliners announced so far include Katy Perry, Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts, Michael Bublé and Teddy Swims.
Blenheim Palace sits just outside Woodstock, technically in Oxfordshire but firmly within the Cotswolds orbit. The Great Court provides a dramatic setting and there will be a range of hospitality and VIP packages alongside general admission tickets. Whether this becomes an annual fixture remains to be seen, but the debut lineup suggests serious ambition.

Meadow Fest — 1 to 3 May 2026
Another first-time festival, Meadow Fest is a boutique gathering at Cornbury Park near Chipping Norton celebrating British farming alongside live music. The lineup includes The Fratellis, Reef, The Sherlocks and Alabama 3 across two stages, with more than 40 acts in total. There will also be a farmers' market, sustainable workshops and a focus on supporting British farming communities.
It is family-friendly — under-16s go free — and at 5,000 acres, Cornbury Park offers a genuinely beautiful setting. The scale is deliberately small compared to the region's established festivals like Wilderness, which returns to the same estate later in the summer.

Cotswolds Designer Outlet, Tewkesbury — Opened July 2025
Strictly a 2025 opening, but one that many visitors may not yet know about. The Cotswolds Designer Outlet opened on 16 July 2025 near Junction 9 of the M5, between Tewkesbury and Northway. It houses more than 40 stores including BOSS, The North Face, Levi's, Adidas, Sweaty Betty, Tommy Hilfiger and M&S Outlet, alongside restaurants such as Wagamama, Five Guys and Pret a Manger.
With 908 parking spaces and EV charging stations, it is a practical rainy-day option and a useful stop if you are approaching the Cotswolds from the M5 corridor. The architecture draws on the region's medieval heritage, with nods to Tewkesbury's historic streetscape.

TreeDwellers, Cornbury Park — Opened 2024, Still New
TreeDwellers launched in 2024 within the ancient woodland of Cornbury Park's 1,700-acre estate near Chipping Norton. Seven individually designed treehouses — in one- and two-bedroom configurations — are elevated above the forest floor with floor-to-ceiling windows, wood-burning stoves and freestanding bathtubs overlooking the canopy.
All stays include a locally sourced welcome hamper and access to the woodland's yoga platform, feasting table and forest megaphone. In-treehouse spa treatments can be booked separately. It remains one of the most distinctive accommodation options to have appeared in the Cotswolds in recent years, and availability can be tight during peak periods.

Planning Your Visit
Spring and early summer 2026 will be a particularly rewarding time to visit the Cotswolds, with several of these openings clustering around March to May. If you are combining a few of these stops, consider basing yourself around Cirencester or Stow-on-the-Wold for easy access to both the northern and southern Cotswolds.
A few practical notes: the new pubs and restaurants are likely to be popular in their opening weeks, so booking ahead is sensible. For the festivals, early-bird tickets tend to sell out quickly. And for Kelmscott Manor, remember it is only open three days a week — plan accordingly.
